Cases worth writing down

Some patients teach the profession something new. When that happens, the case is written up so that other surgeons — anywhere in the world — can learn from it.

  1. Case

    01

    Catastrophe of blast injury

A report on the pattern of damage an explosion causes to the body, and what it takes to save such a patient.

Chakraborty RR, Bhuyan NA. ANZ Journal of Surgery 2015;85(Suppl. 1):TS023P 134.

  2. Case

    02

    De Garengeot hernia

A very rare hernia in which the appendix is found trapped inside the hernia sac — most surgeons never see one.

Chakraborty RR, Bhuyan NA. ANZ Journal of Surgery 2015;85(Suppl. 1):GS029P 49.

  3. Case

    03

    Prevertebral emphysema

A case series on air trapped in front of the spine — an unusual warning sign after injury to the neck or chest.

    Case series — ongoing.

  4. Case

    04

    Non-therapeutic laparotomy in abdominal trauma

Research showing that many abdominal operations after injury turn out to be unnecessary, and how to avoid opening a patient who does not need it.

Chakraborty RR, Ahmed S, Chakraborty PP, Maruf AA. Indian Journal of Science and Technology, accepted October 2020.
