About

A surgeon, a teacher, and a neighbour

Dr. Rivu Raj Chakraborty has spent his whole career in the emergency and trauma services of Bangladesh's public teaching hospitals — and his weekends in the village he grew up in.

Profile

In his own words

I am an experienced trauma surgeon and surgical critical care consultant, and I have worked in this field in a teaching and service-oriented hospital for the last 15 years.

During this period I have been engaged in both graduate and post-graduate teaching at Chittagong Medical College, Bangladesh. Besides the teaching and clinical service, I actively lead the trauma research at this institution.

Recently, along with six other enthusiastic faculty members, I founded an organisation — the Trauma Foundation — to lead trauma care in Bangladesh and to promote trauma education and training in this country.
